An engineer in mind and a problem solver at heart, Daniel thrives on gaining new insight and understanding, whilst cutting directly to the heart of a design challenge.
With a wide range of experience across a diverse range of industries, Daniel strives to constantly fuse design and analysis together throughout the entire design process.
Raised in the Bay of Plenty, Daniel first discovered his passion and abilities for physics, maths and design at Tauranga Boys’ College when he was invited to advance into Year 11 Science and Maths as a part of the Year 10 Accelerate program. Following his appetite for problem-solving, Daniel progressed to study a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Canterbury where he graduated with First Class Honours.
Daniel began his career as a mechanical engineer for AIM Altitude (formerly Altitude Aerospace Interiors) where he gained valuable experience in the design, certification, and structural analysis (classical and finite element) of aircraft interiors and their interfacing fuselage structures.
In 2012, Daniel and his family relocated to Bristol, England where he assumed the role of Composite Stress Engineer at Airbus UK. During his time there, Daniel was largely responsible for developing, testing, and validating innovative structural analysis methods for residual loads induced during assembly of the major composite (carbon-fibre) components of the A350 aircraft wings.
Feeling the pull of NZ and seeking a change in career trajectory, Daniel relocated back to NZ at the end of 2014. Since returning home, Daniel has worked as a Product Design Engineer at both Fisher & Paykel Appliances and Trimax Mowing Systems. Here he honed his conceptualisation, design, prototyping, testing, and Finite Element Analysis skills across a wide range of products, materials, and environments.
At Locus, Daniel is excited by the opportunity to apply his skills and experience to a wide range of innovative, world-leading products and projects. He is continually motivated by the challenges of overcoming tough design issues and pushing the boundaries of technology.

FUN FACTS
Loves to jam old school blues on electric guitar.
Was a public speaking champion in high school.
Currently owns 8 large Lego Technic sets (over 12,000 parts) because engineering can be fun too!
CULTURE
Competitive by nature, Daniel is a keen basketball player and surfer.
Always enjoys the challenge of learning a new skill, especially if its I.O.T related.
Almost retrained as a Secondary School Mathematics and Physics teacher.
